hey, why not. old enough, lived a little, sooooooooo here goes. why herc? well that came from a high school play back in the fifty's. I played hercules, the friend of wilber nelson. liked it, it stuck in cyber land.
just got back from africa. what a huge place, and lots to do and see. was with my
brother and twenty some more from the u.s. and one ausie. mostly went to work and help out some of the more needy in Malawi. saw over 1300 patients with all kinds of maladies. most had parasitses, i.e. worms and other parasites. Malaria, schistosomiasis, skin diseases were endemic. a quite a few hypertensives, diabetics, skin lesions, and , of course, a few AIDS patients. many of the children were malnourished existing on mostly a starch diet. we saw two or three hundred orphanes of AIDS parents that had expired.
most of the work done for them was from religious organizations and philanthropists. I and my bro were a part of the former.
I loved the people. so accepting and grateful for the help we were providing. hard not to want to do more for them, plenty of invites to return. always ready to give you a big hug, thanks, for your efforts. several wanted to communicate and ask for addresses and email addresses.
enough for no. 1, will write more another day.
Herc
